I tried one of the cheapest meals I could find in Cusco, Peru—and somehow a simple $3 bowl of soup turned into one of the wildest market experiences of the trip. 🇵🇪 We started by getting completely lost inside a massive local market while hunting down a cheap bowl of traditional chicken soup. For around 9 soles—roughly $3 USD—we finally found it, squeezed onto a tiny bench with the locals, and put Peru’s budget food to the test. But the soup was only the beginning. From wandering through rows of fruit, potatoes, bread, cheese and strange market stalls to discovering the more mysterious side of Cusco, this turned into a completely unplanned look at everyday life inside a Peruvian market. We tasted local cheeses, tried fresh coconut milk, stumbled into stalls selling traditional plants and remedies, talked about ayahuasca experiences, and somehow ended up shopping for one of the craziest hats I’ve seen in Peru. This is the raw, unfiltered side of Cusco that most tourists never see.
